Start your adventure

It all starts in La Parguera

A seaside town full of life, flavor and adventure, surrounded by some of the most beautiful cays in the Caribbean. Here you can start the day out on a boat, go snorkeling or kayaking, watch the sunset over the water and end the night in the glow of the bioluminescent bay.

La Parguera is known for its waterfront strip of restaurants, bars, kiosks and craft stalls — and, unlike other beach towns, its best places to enjoy the water are out on the cays that surround it.

Bioluminescent bay

Nights that glow

One of Puerto Rico's three bioluminescent bays

The glow comes from microorganisms called dinoflagellates, which flash when the water moves. Just run your hand through the water and watch the blue light follow it.

Local tip

“Nights with little moonlight usually offer the best conditions to see the bioluminescence.”
