Cayo Enrique

Clear water and sand — a snorkeling favorite.

Cayo Enrique is known for its clear water and sandy areas, which contrast with the rocky bottom of other nearby cays. It's a frequent stop on snorkeling tours because you can see the bottom well even in shallow water.

Directions

Only by water, from La Parguera's waterfront. It's usually included on combined tours that visit two or three cays in one trip.

Things to do

  • Snorkeling: it's one of the spots with the best visibility in the area.
  • Swim from the sandy areas.
  • Watch marine life on the nearby coral formations.
  • Combine it with another cay on the same trip.

Tips

  • If you're snorkeling, bring your own gear or confirm the operator provides it.
  • Don't touch or stand on coral: it's living tissue and takes decades to recover.
  • Mineral sunscreen is better than chemical sunscreen for the reef.
  • Visibility is usually best in the morning, before the wind stirs up the water.
How to visit

You can only get there by water. Arrange drop-off and pickup with a local operator before you go — there are no services and cell coverage isn't guaranteed on the cays.
